Primary schools activities for British Science Week 2018

Friday 2nd March 2018

British Science Week 2018 runs from 9th – 18th March and schools, families and organisations all over the UK will be ‘exploring and discovering’ with a wide range of special events and activities.

Science Oxford will be busy visiting schools all over Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire with fun, hands-on science shows and workshops as well as lending out special kits for teachers to use with their classes. We are almost fully booked now but may still be able to squeeze in something for your school – check out what we could offer here or get in touch asap on [email protected] to have a chat.

If you haven’t seen the fantastic kit that we have available for you to borrow, have a look here. Even if you’ve borrowed our kits before, you might be surprised by our new micro:bit kit loan (with accompanying micro:bit CPD to build your computing confidence!), our great set of easy to use dataloggers or our revamped microscopes kit loan.

If you’re looking for some last minute inspiration for your class, why not check out the free activity packs downloadable from www.britishscienceweek.org. Themed around ‘exploration and discovery’, there are packs for primary, secondary and early years, crammed full of interactive science ideas and activities. There’s also a citizen science project to keep our beaches and oceans clean  and even a challenge for any runners out there – Run to the Deep is an immersive journey from the sea surface to the Marianas Trench available via a free app.

Whatever you do to celebrate British Science Week in your school we’d love to hear about it. Get in touch via twitter, facebook, Instagram or snapchat, tagging #scienceoxford and we’ll choose our favourite creative science activity to win their class a free Science Oxford workshop!
