Science on Your Doorstep: Mike Dennis
Science on Your Doorstep is our new series of events showcasing the scientists who live and work in the Headington area. In the future, we’ll be hearing from space experts, biologists and botanists but our first Doorstep event will introduce you to Science Oxford’s exciting new project – Stansfeld Park.
Stansfeld Park, on the edge of Headington Quarry, is an 18-acre site where we’re developing a stunning new Science Oxford education centre. The centre aims to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators and will be an indoor/outdoor centre specifically for primary- aged children, their teachers and families.
Mike Dennis, local resident and our new Science Oxford Centre Manager will join forces with Bridget Holligan, our Director of Education and Engagement, to talk all about the new centre and give a taste of the amazing indoor/outdoor science experience our visitors will be able to enjoy when it opens in 2019.
It will be a fun and interactive evening that will engage the audience in thinking, doing and talking science and there may even be a game show element to the proceedings!
The event is free to attend, but you are invited to make a donation towards a special fund we’re setting up to support disadvantaged schools across the region. The fund will help these schools with their travel costs, to enable them to come and enjoy the new Science Oxford Centre too.
