Crafty Christmas Coding for kids – Sold Out
Combining computing, crafting and festive fun, this family workshop is all about making seasonal decorations using a range of creative skills including simple programming.
CodeBug is a cute, programmable and wearable device designed to introduce simple programming and electronic concepts to anyone, at any age. CodeBug can display graphics and text, has touch sensitive inputs and you can power it with a watch battery. At home, it is easy to program CodeBug using an online interface, which features colourful drag and drop blocks, an in-browser emulator and engaging community features.
At this workshop children will learn how to program the tiny CodeBug computer so it scrolls festive messages and animations. They will then design a festive cover for their CodeBug, complete with bells, ribbons and googly eyes!
Our Technology Officer Sarah Townson demonstrates the CodeBug and describes what you will be doing at this fun hands-on session!
Tickets
There are two pricing options: for £20 you can enjoy the workshop and take your CodeBug home, either to give as an extra special present to family or friends or to keep and play with using other simple coding programs.
Alternatively, there’s the standard science club workshop price of £8 and you can take home the festive cover but not the CodeBug. If your child enjoys the workshop so much that they want a CodeBug after all, there will be some available on the day to purchase for an additional £15.
