Find out more about the facilities at the Science Oxford Centre – indoors in the Exploration Zone and Live Lab and outdoors in the woodland and the Water Lab. We have a private café on site which is open to visitors from 10–4pm on Saturdays. If you want to find out more before you visit, see our virtual 360 tour and floor plan.

Exploration Zone

Imagine a space where children can create their own experiments, test their own designs and make their own discoveries. A space that challenges them to think and ask questions and to develop ideas and solutions through scientific play. (Family Days and community days only).

Outdoors

Explore, discover, play and enjoy the outdoors at the Science Oxford Centre. With 15 acres of woodland, green space and ponds to explore there’s always something to do and see, whatever the weather.

Water Lab

Our amazing outdoor Water Lab is open to all visitors attending our Family Days and STEM Clubs at the Science Oxford Centre, from April to October.

Live Lab

The Live Lab is a dedicated space in the Exploration Zone where we showcase short demonstrations and hands-on science activities for our Family Day visitors from October–March.

Café

Emira’s Kitchen café is a private café open to our Science Oxford Centre visitors on Saturdays from 10am–4pm. Visitors are also welcome to bring a picnic, snacks and refreshments and use our lunch and picnic tables.

What’s on

Science Oxford runs a range of events for families and young people, including Family Days, Sensory-friendly Family Days, STEM Clubs, Holiday Clubs and Arti-Techs After School Club in the Science Oxford Centre as well as a monthly Science Club in Abingdon.
