Jude Bennett joins our Board of Trustees

Tuesday 13th October 2020

The Oxford Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Jude Bennett to the Board of Trustees. Jude is Headteacher of St Andrew’s Primary in Headington, close to our Science Oxford Centre and Wood Centre for Innovation.

Jude says, “I am delighted to be joining the Trust and supporting the invaluable work being undertaken to grow, support and develop the scientists of the future through Science Oxford. The Science Oxford Centre and adjoining Wood Centre for Innovation are inspirational for children and budding young scientists in our region.”

Steve Burgess, CEO of The Oxford Trust says: “We are thrilled that Jude has joined our Board of Trustees. Her experience and knowledge of the primary school sector will be incredibly important for the development and delivery of our Science Oxford programmes, especially in these uncertain times.”

Jude has been involved in education for 32 years. She started as a secondary school teacher but soon realised that she found it more rewarding working with younger children. She retrained in 2000 and moved into the primary school sector. She quickly rose through the ranks to become headteacher at St Andrew’s. Jude loves everything about her job and is proud to give the children that attend her school a good start in life. Having taught young people of all ages from 4 right through to 18, she has a broad knowledge of education. She also has insight into primary schools right across Oxfordshire through the work she’s doing as a local leader of education and School Improvement Partner for the Local Authority.

Jude has strong early memories of hands-on science in school and realises the value of science in primary education. As one of our Science Oxford walking schools, she has been an early supporter of the Science Oxford Centre and St Andrew’s is one of our regular Forest Schools.

With a wealth of experience in primary education, Jude is looking forward to joining the Board and supporting the development and direction of our Science Oxford programmes.

And we are looking forward to having her expert insight into primary education. Welcome aboard, Jude!
