Creative Computing Club Project: Clean Air Tech (KS3)
March 8, 2025 - July 5, 2025
Science Oxford Centre
Computing Club
Ages 11-14, Young People
Get coding with clean, green technology and design and build a monitor to test air quality in our project that runs on Saturdays March 8th, April 5th, May 10th, June 7th, July 5th.
Air pollution is one of the biggest environmental and human health threats on the planet – join us to create helpful tech to tackle these important issues, and find out more about the air we breath. Young programmers will write a Python program to test and record the indoor temperature, humidity & CO2 data; display the info on an LCD screen and publish the data on a webpage using HTML. Using CAD (computer aided design), design a case for your monitor to be produced on our laser cutter, then solder and wire up the electronics to see your ‘tool’ come to life. Take home your air quality monitor at the end of the project and test your local environment. How air-healthy do you think it will be?
Our series of five monthly coding workshops is for unaccompanied young people aged 11 to 14 (KS3), with some experience from attending our previous Creative Computing Clubs (or similar workshops), who would love to design, build, and program their own project, plus learn lots of new skills with new friends.
