The new Science Oxford Centre on film

Thursday 20th December 2018

From September 2019, our new Science Oxford Centre in Headington will be fully open to visits for primary schools and early years groups from across the region. The new centre is the UK’s first integrated indoor-outdoor science education centre. At its core will be the Exploration Zone, a new kind of hands-on science exhibition that has been specifically designed to encourage high-level thinking and engagement in children. They will be encouraged to explore and experiment creatively. Our skills-based approach will underpin all on-site workshops, shows and activities in the centre and surrounding 15-acre woodland.

To find out more about the philosophy behind the Science Oxford Centre, we interviewed on camera our Director of Education and Engagement Bridget Holligan. Bridget is leading on the development of the new centre, its exhibits and future programme. In this two-minute film, she explains why we are building the centre and the educational model at its heart.
