Inventing with Isobel is a show designed for up to 60 children (two classes).

Isobel loves solving problems she encounters by creating new contraptions. She needs your children’s help to choose the right materials for her inventions by thinking carefully about their properties and testing out what your students think might work.

Over the course of 45 minutes, Isobel and your children examine a variety of different materials, thinking about which materials are best for different purposes. Does chocolate burn? Can you make a stone anchor?

Our engaging presenter will give your children plenty of opportunities to contribute their ideas through open questioning and time for paired discussion.

We would usually expect one member of Science Oxford staff to be able to provide three activities in a day. Most of our shows are suitable for up to 60 children and most of our workshops for up to 30 children. We will create a draft timetable for you based on the information you provide below.
