Science Oxford Employer Awards Launched

Thursday 12th October 2017

Science Oxford’s Employer Awards show how much we value the contribution businesses make to our STEM World of Work programme. Without their support, we would not be able to offer the wide range of workplace experiences for secondary school students that we do.

To say thank you, we have created Science Oxford Employer Awards, which aim to recognise businesses for their contributions to the programme. To qualify for an award, the business needs to engage with secondary school students through one or more of our in-school workshops, workplace visits or by hosting a placement student.

There are different levels of award:

The Bronze Award recognises a business that has been involved in one of our STEM World of Work schemes, has provided an online profile on our STEM Horizons careers website and is keen to encourage young people into STEM careers in the future.

The Silver Award recognises a business that has been involved in more than one of our STEM World of Work schemes, has provided an online profile on our STEM Horizons careers website and is actively pursuing a strategy to engage with young people about STEM careers.

The Gold Award recognises a business that is involved in multiple STEM World of Work schemes, has provided an online profile on our STEM Horizons careers website, has demonstrated that schools engagement is at the heart of their CSR strategy and actively supports and promotes the Science Oxford STEM World of Work programme to their stakeholders and beyond.

This year we awarded 30 local businesses with a bronze award, ten with silver awards and two with gold awards. As well as receiving a certificate that can be displayed on the business premises, each organisation can display the Science Oxford employer award logo on their website to demonstrate their engagement with young people to their stakeholders.
