Kid’s Cosmic Competition launch

With the night’s sky holding more secrets than science currently knows, why not use our galaxy as a source of creative inspiration? 2019 marks 50 years since humans landed on the moon, and to celebrate, we are launching a competition for children of Oxfordshire, aged up to 12 years old. All you need to do is create a piece of space-inspired artwork for a chance of winning one of two prizes, kindly gifted to us by Stabilo. To enter, simply upload your creation by 31st May to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and tag us @ScienceOxford. Or email [email protected].

What do you see when you look into the night’s sky? If you’re lucky, you’ll see a blanket of stars, with keen eyes able to spot Sirius, the brightest star of all. If you look really hard, you may even be able to see planets as distant as Jupiter. Pick up a telescope, and set your sights even further…
