Your Green Future careers event comes to Oxfordshire

Thursday 9th March 2017

We’re excited to be taking part in an innovative green careers event that is coming to Oxfordshire for the first time this spring. The Oxfordshire Your Green Future event will take place at the Kings Centre in Osney on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 April 2017.

Your Green Future (YGF) is an interactive event for secondary school students which introduces them to the concept of a low carbon economy and their potential role in creating this through their career choices. The event is organised by charity Severn Wye Energy Agency in partnership with a local delivery team which includes Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council.

Science Oxford has been involved with the planning of Your Green Future and recruiting volunteers. We’ll also have a stall at the hands-on science fair as well as supporting workshops as mentors.

Emerging from the background challenges of youth unemployment, a shortage of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) skills and the need to develop low carbon, resilient communities, up to 400 students will take part in a series of interactive workshops during the event, looking at energy, waste, innovation and business.

Your Green Future has been running for several years in Bristol and Solihull and is now coming to Oxford through a partnership formed with the Low Carbon Oxford network, led by Oxford City Council.
