Young geologists, pick up a trowel! In this rock-themed workshop, we’ll be cracking open history by learning about some of the great scientific explorers through a series of geological challenges, including panning for gold like James W Marshall, mapping it out like cartographer Marie Tharp, and making our own fossils to take home like Mary Anning.

There will also be a special guest appearance from the Moon to mark the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, with real Moon rocks for our young scientists to examine.

All Saturday Science Club sessions must be accompanied by an adult.

Science Oxford welcomes all children to our clubs. If you or your child has additional needs, please get in touch on [email protected] to discuss how we can best support your child to make the most of the club.

Science Oxford is committed to inclusion and we recognise that cost is sometimes a barrier. Funded places for eligible families are now available, thanks to the Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust. Families could be eligible for these places for several reasons; for example, if your child receives free school meals or is a looked-after child. To find out more and to book one of these places, please contact [email protected].
