Saturday Science Club Oxford – Colour Catchers (ages 5-9)
Catch a rainbow with amazing colour chemistry at this month’s Saturday Science Club. Try your hand at ‘pen chromatography’ and discover hidden hues in felt-tip pens. Experiment with kitchen science using colour-changing vegetables, or write secret messages with lemon juice and baking powder. Mix up liquids, cups and a paper towel and see a walking rainbow before your very eyes – a great trick of the light to ‘wow’ friends and family at home!
Your ticket
Includes your timed Saturday Science Club session + access to our woodland and outdoor Water Lab exhibit until 5.30pm.
About Saturday Science Club
Our fun sessions for ages 5-9 are designed to engage children and their families with STEM: science, technology, engineering and maths. Through entertaining demos and hands-on activities, children have a chance to learn, explore, question and investigate different areas of science. Each month has a different theme, so you can try something new each time if you attend regularly.
Water Lab
Our ‘Water Lab’ self-guided exhibit allows visitors to carry out a range of water-based play, investigation and problem solving activities. Experiment with floating and sinking, adjust the water flow from a trickling stream to a raging current or test your own ideas with other interchangeable accessories. We advise bringing a change of dry clothes in case you get wet. Children must be supervised by their adult at all times.
Café Closed
Due to unforeseen circumstances the Café will be closed, apologies for any inconvenience. Families are welcome to bring picnics and snacks to eat at our lunch tables.
