Nature Lab – Tree Twin (ages 5-9)
Em’bark’ on a woodland family adventure to find your tree twin at this month’s Nature Lab! Get up close to the largest and most important living things in our woodland, and learn how to identify your Ash from your Oak. Height-hunt for the tallest tree in sight, and guess how old it might be? Find your tree twin by matching palm patterns to a tree, and create a forest-inspired memento from bark and leaf rubbings to take home.
Children and their accompanying adults will be spending part of each club outdoors, so all should come prepared with wellies, waterproofs, sun protection or warm layers depending on the weather.
About Nature Lab
At Nature Lab you will be making the most of the beautiful surroundings at the Science Oxford Centre, exploring the natural world in different ways each month. With ponds, woodlands and meadows on our doorstep children can explore and investigate the plants and animals that live alongside us, discover the simple beauty of natural objects and learn how everything in an ecosystem is interconnected.
Your ticket
Includes your timed Nature Lab session + access to our woodland and outdoor Water Lab exhibit until 5.30pm.
Water Lab
Our ‘Water Lab’ self-guided exhibit allows visitors to carry out a range of water-based play, investigation and problem solving activities. Experiment with floating and sinking, adjust the water flow from a trickling stream to a raging current or test your own ideas with other interchangeable accessories. We advise bringing a change of dry clothes in case you get wet. Children must be supervised by their adult at all times.
Café Closed
Due to unforeseen circumstances the Café will be closed, apologies for any inconvenience. Families are welcome to bring picnics and snacks to eat at our lunch tables.
