Escape to the wild, and celebrate the creatures living in our woodland at this month’s Club! Investigate animals and their habitats, plants and pollinators outside in our meadow. Go sweeping with bug nets to count and identify amazing mini-beasts. Dissect flowers, play Plant Bingo, and find out what insects actually do when they visit and pollinate blooms. Get creative with the National ‘Wild Escape’ project! Draw a 4 panel comic and tell the story of one creature’s escape to the wild, with a fun activity sheet to take home.

Nature Club – Wild Escape runs on the same day as our Sensory-friendly Family Day, which included 2 hours in the Exploration Zone, and is suitable for anyone who wishes to book tickets for and attend both activities.

The Wild Escape is a National project led by Art Fund in celebration of UK wildlife and creativity. Launched on Earth Day 2023, the project aims to engage children and families in collaboration with museums and Discovery Centres until the end of July 2023. Inspired by Wild Isles, the landmark BBC series exploring the flora and fauna of the UK.

Event Details

All Saturday Club sessions must be accompanied by an adult. These family workshops are designed for you and your child to learn from each other and work together while trying out new things.

Nature Club is usually held in our workshop space, with some outdoor activities in most sessions, weather permitting. Explore the natural world in different ways each month, where you will be making the most of the beautiful surroundings at the Science Oxford Centre. With ponds, woodlands and meadows on our doorstep, children can explore and investigate the plants and animals that live alongside us, discover the simple beauty of natural objects and learn how everything in an ecosystem is interconnected.

Additional Support:

Our skilled staff ensure that every child can access the activities and differentiate to engage all children.
If your child has specific additional needs, please get in touch via [email protected] to discuss how they can be best supported.

Science Oxford is committed to inclusion, and we recognise that cost is sometimes a barrier so are working with schools and community groups to provide funded places to individuals to remove the barriers where we can.
