The Thinking, Doing, Talking Science (TDTScience) four-day course for primary teachers provides in-depth training on how to develop pupils’ higher order thinking skills, promote oracy through dedicated ‘Bright Ideas’ discussion slots,  boost knowledge and enquiry skills through purposeful practical science activities and utilise focused recording for assessment that leads to a reduction in writing.  Strategies can be implemented immediately in the classroom and require minimal inexpensive resources.

The TDTScience approach encourages children’s exploration, investigation, discovery and experimentation, and unlocks their excitement and enthusiasm for science whilst making lessons more practical, creative and challenging. It has also been shown to enhance teacher confidence. It is suitable for all primary teachers, from early career through to subject specialists. TDTScience was developed by Science Oxford in partnership with Oxford Brookes University.  It is now being rolled out nationally by the Primary Science Teaching Trust.
