Super Science Saturday inspires families with IF Oxford

Wednesday 22nd October 2025

Celebrating super science! Hundreds of curious festival-goers from Oxfordshire and beyond visited the Science Oxford Centre this October for Super Science Saturday, a fun-filled day of discovery with IF Oxford, the science and ideas Festival.

It was brilliant!

There was something for everyone to try as visitors of all ages enjoyed hands-on activities in the Exploration Zone, explored the surrounding 15 acres of woodland, and were inspired by visiting researchers, scientists and presenters with IF Oxford.

Families raced mini rolling-robots and tested materials used to generate star power with UK Atomic Energy Authority. The audience joined in for an ‘Amazing Air’ multi-sensory show with Dr Sarah Bearchell, with fun experiments to prove air really is there. Children marvelled at Brighton Science Festival founder, Richard Robinson’s ’66 Impossible Things’ with fun science tricks with demos to make you think! Visitors commented ‘It was brilliant!’ and, “We’re so lucky to have this in our city”.

Daniel Scholes, our Head of Education (pictured in the main photo), said “Hosting our Super Science Saturday as part of IF Oxford, the annual science and ideas Festival, is an absolute joy. Along with our regular activities, the day enabled children and families to engage with visiting real-world scientists in an impactful way. All our IF Oxford contributors shared the amazing things they do with such passion and personality that everybody left the Science Oxford Centre buzzing with even more enthusiasm and curiosity than when they arrived.”
