Sparkling minds in store at John Lewis
Friday 1st February 2019
We’re never too young to learn about the world around us, and Science Oxford is delighted to partner with John Lewis Oxford to offer a selection of science-inspired in-store sessions, designed to get mini-minds sparkling this February.
‘Sparkling Minds’ is a series of creative early years workshops for ages 2-4, where mini-scientists can have fun with hands-on activities and experiments. We’ll be magic name-writing and making ‘cloud dough’, blowing bubbles, melting ice and much more.
Our half term ‘Marble Mazes’ workshop is aimed at ages 6+, and scientifically proven to be one of our most popular – and addictive – activities ever!
Sophie Batin, Science Oxford’s Education Outreach Manager said: “We’re passionate about giving children opportunities to try out high-quality science-inspired experiences from an early age; we believe that science is for everyone, and creativity and investigation are valuable skills.”
“These sessions are part of the work that we’re doing to create a programme of activities at our new Science Oxford Centre, open later this year. Everything we’re planning as part of our partnership with John Lewis has been given the thumbs up by pre-school children, their families and teachers from around the county, so we’re confident that they’re great fun as well as great science!”
Clint White from John Lewis said, “We’re really excited to be teaming up with Science Oxford to bring a series of workshops for little ones in store. Delivering experiences to our customers is an example of how we are revolutionising what it means to be a department store. Working with local organisations to deliver these allows us the opportunity to become a shop within the local community. These workshops will compliment our range of events with fun for all the family in a safe environment. ”
And don’t forget, Elton John, the original Rocket Man, had his life transformed by the gift of a piano at an early age (remember the amazing John Lewis Christmas advert?) – so bring along your budding geniuses and, instead of toddler tantrums and tiaras, they might just become the science stars and influencers of tomorrow!
