Talk Business

We are very lucky to work with many STEM businesses across the region – businesses who support our education programmes and the STEM World of Work.

Our business partners (individuals and organisations) share their time and knowledge with young people (and quite often offices or laboratories too) to show them what a career in a STEM subject might look like, how a STEM business runs and to share their passion for research and discovery.

We are always looking to meet new people and businesses who might be interested in working with schools in the region. Science Oxford has an experienced team of science education professionals who can help you find the perfect match for your organisation.

Get involved

There are many ways that you can get involved with the Science Oxford Schools programmes. For example:

  • If you’d like to invite secondary school students to come and visit your workplace or want to develop a relationship with a local secondary school, you could take part in STEM Experience Week or offer a summer placement. Read more here.
  • Provide a case study of what it’s like to work in STEM by contributing to our STEM Horizons project and website for secondary school students. Read more here.

Our Partners – Case Studies

BP Pangbourne

BP Pangbourne has a long term project working with Langtree School in which they aim to visit the school at least once a month. Year 9 students work with BP staff volunteers on the Go4Set engineering challenge. They also run a number of workshops at the school and every summer BP offer work experience for Langtree students.

Johnson & Johnson

Johnson & Johnson has been working with Cressex Community School for the past six years with the aim of showing students the kind of job opportunities that having maths and science skills can bring them in the pharmaceutical industry.

Laing O’Rourke

Laing O’Rourke volunteers have been helping to promote career opportunities in engineering by visiting local career fairs and delivering assembly talks. They also hosted 20 local students as part of our Science Experience Week and two apprenticeship placements this summer.
