Our STEM Insight Weeks, run during half-terms, aim to inspire Year 10 and 11 students to pursue further education and STEM careers. Each week is a busy schedule of interactive skills-based workshops and visits to and from local STEM employers and facilities.
The most recent STEM Insight Week over February half-term included:
- Interactions with STEM businesses and research institutions:
- Engineering consultancy Ricardo, who gave insight into some of the real world applications of chemical engineering.
- Civil engineering consultancy Hoare Lea, who shared insight into careers in engineering.
- Nucleome Therapeutics, who shed light on careers in medicine and neuroscience.
- University of Bath, who shared insight into research and gave students the opportunity to participate in real world research on citizen science.
- Workshops which helped develop skills needed during higher education and the broader world of work: CV writing; interview skills, ‘People like me’, mindfulness.
