Investigate pond life with our summer pond dipping session at the Science Oxford Centre! Discover an amazing aquatic eco-system in our ponds using scoop nets and trays. Spot and identify newts, water beetles, pond-snails, dragonfly larvae or water boatmen and get up close with a magnifying glass. Compare the watery wrigglers inhabiting each pond, and see what wildlife lives and lurks around the banks. How does the food chain work, who eats who and which crazy creature comes out on top in pond-life! Look out for ‘Seeds of Change’ themed World Water Week 2023, August 20-24th.

What is included in your ticket:

• 90 minute club session for one child and accompanying adult
• Access to:
  – the woodland and outdoor areas from 10am-5pm
• Outdoor Water Lab (change of clothes recommended)
• Parking (limited availability, see below for details)

What is NOT included:

• Access to the Exploration Zone

Event Details

All Saturday Club sessions must be accompanied by an adult. These family workshops are designed for you and your child to learn from each other and work together while trying out new things.

Nature Club is usually held in our workshop space, with some outdoor activities in most sessions, weather permitting. Explore the natural world in different ways each month, where you will be making the most of the beautiful surroundings at the Science Oxford Centre. With ponds, woodlands and meadows on our doorstep, children can explore and investigate the plants and animals that live alongside us, discover the simple beauty of natural objects and learn how everything in an ecosystem is interconnected.

Our skilled staff ensure that every child can access the activities and differentiate to engage all children.

Science Oxford is committed to inclusion, and we recognise that cost is sometimes a barrier so are working with schools and community groups to provide funded places to individuals to remove the barriers where we can.

Facilities

Emira’s Kitchen Café is open 10am – 4pm. Families are also welcome to bring picnics and snacks to eat at our lunch tables.
